Ticketmaster cancels public ticket sales to Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” leaving fans wildly disappointed

Fans all over are wildly disappointed after Ticketmaster has canceled ticket sales to Taylor Swift’s “The Eras” tour. The company made the announcement in a tweet on Thursday:

“Due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand, tomorrow’s public on-sale for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour has been cancelled,” Ticketmaster wrote in the tweet.

T-Swift’s team is fighting back. Swift has responded to the fiasco saying Ticketmaster “assured” her and her team that it would be able to meet the demand for her Eras Tour.

Ticketmaster also released a full statement where they explained that the pre-sale broke site records and acknowledged that it hadn’t offered the smooth ticket-buying experience it hoped for.

“The biggest venues and artists turn to us because we have the leading ticketing technology in the world — that doesn’t mean it’s perfect, and clearly for Taylor’s on sale it wasn’t. But we’re always working to improve the ticket buying experience,” the statement reads.

Loyal fans went through a lot just to purchase pre-sale tickets with faulty website issue from capacity and fighting to get their tickets among thousands of people all at once. The process took hours for some as more than 3.5 million people pre-registered for the Taylor’s Verified Fan sale, the largest in the site’s history.

The tour is to kick off in March in Arizona and Swift recently added 17 dates.

A gross error on Ticketmaster as 2.5 million people were left waitlisted. This demonstrated not only Swift’s extraordinary fan following but the limitations of music’s dominant ticketing system.
