Tamika Scott of girl group Xscape and new song “Tonight” has been released. Method Man is featured and fans have already been streaming like crazy.
The liberating tune hears Scott dismiss any drama that comes her way as she unapologetically celebrates life. “It’s the weekend and I’m in my zone / Tonight I’m not trying to be home alone / Just freshened up, hopped out the tub / Ladies free all night at the club / Smelling good, slipping my outfit on / Any little stress that I had is gone,” Scott sings over hip-hop soul instrumentation. Method Man, who opens the track, spits a hot verse that pays homage to acts such as Mobb Deep, Slick Rick, and Xscape. “No limit on my commitment, like some glue stick with it / Me and my missus, hugs and kisses / We just different / Traces of lipstick / We can Xscape and just kick it,” he raps.
It’s been but a month since the drama Scott had with sister and fellow bandmate LaTocha Scott-Bivens. She accused her sister of stealing $30,000 — in Page Six’s exclusive preview of Bravo’s “SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B.” Tamika, 47, sits down to discuss the matter with her mother, Gloria, who she feels has shown “favoritism” towards LaTocha, 49, over the years. “Tocha is hurt by you,” Gloria says, to which her younger daughter replies, “No, she’s not.”
Despite the drama, Tamika’s music career continues to shine.
