Rita Ora Reveals Beyoncé’s Reaction to “Becky With the Good Hair” Rumors

It’s a pop culture moment that’s lingered in the public consciousness for nearly a decade — and now, Rita Ora is finally speaking out about her role in the whirlwind of rumors sparked by Beyoncé’s Lemonade.

In a recent interview with E! News, the British singer and actress opened up about the infamous speculation that she was “Becky with the good hair,” the mystery woman referenced in Beyoncé’s 2016 track “Sorry.” At the time, fans launched into detective mode, trying to uncover the identity of the woman at the center of the alleged infidelity storyline woven throughout Lemonade. Rita Ora — who was signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label and was known to be in Beyoncé’s orbit — quickly found herself at the center of the internet storm.

But according to Ora, Queen Bey herself never fed into the drama.

“First of all, I love Beyoncé and I have nothing but respect for her,” Ora said during the interview. “But what was crazy is that it was just a wild rumor — and she was so gracious about it.”

Ora explained that Beyoncé never confronted her about the speculation and, in fact, handled the situation with complete poise. “She just kind of gave me this smile,” Ora said with a laugh. “It was a very subtle, classy Beyoncé way of saying, ‘It’s all good.’”

At the time, Ora had posted a selfie wearing a lemon-print bra and a “J” necklace — a combination that, in the eyes of the BeyHive, was enough to suggest she was taunting the situation. But Ora insists it was never that deep. “It was a coincidence. I love lemons!” she joked.

The singer says she understands why the internet spiraled but feels it’s important to separate art from real life. “That’s the power of Beyoncé,” she said. “She tells stories that spark conversation and get people thinking, but that doesn’t mean we need to turn everything into a witch hunt.”

Nearly a decade later, Ora is brushing off the rumors with humor and grace, and it seems any potential tension between the two singers is long gone. “She was amazing about it. There’s no bad blood — only love and respect.”

As for the original “Becky”? The mystery remains — but one thing is clear: it wasn’t Rita Ora.
