Earlier today a robbery gone sideways at a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles restaurant in South Los Angeles has left Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock, real name Rakim Allen, dead.
Los Angeles police Capt. Kelly Muniz, said the shooting took place at 1 p.m. at the famous eatery on Main Street and Manchester Avenue. At this time she would not identify the victim. Apparently the music artist was dining with his girlfriend when the robbery took place. The girlfriend had made an Instagram post with the location which is likely why he was targeted there, though the post has since been deleted.
Muniz said a suspect brandished a firearm inside the restaurant and demanded items from the victim. Sources told The Times that Rock was targeted for his jewelry.
“He shot the victim and ran out the side door to a getaway car and then fled the parking lot,” she said.
Unfortunately the victim was transported to a hospital and according to Muniz pronounced dead at 1:59 pm.
According to a law enforcement source, LAPD investigators are examining security video from inside the restaurant to identify the shooter. They also are checking surrounding businesses to see whether security systems captured any images of the suspect leaving on foot or in a vehicle.
PnB Rock was best known for his 2016 hit “Selfish which peaked at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100. Rock also was featured on YFN Lucci’s 2017 victorious anthem “Everyday We Lit,”. A few of his most recent hits include “No Piensa” a collaboration with Don Diablo and Boaz van de Beatz, and just last week on September 2nd he released a new Single “Luv Me Again”.
A talented artist gone too soon and only 30 years old. Rest in peace.
