Rumors began circulating after industry publication HITS suggested Swift would appear at the ceremony, hosted by Trevor Noah and airing on CBS on February 1. The story spread quickly, fueling fan excitement — but according to Grammy Awards executive producer Ben Winston, the report was completely fabricated.
“The only reason people think Taylor might be performing or coming is because HITS decided to print it this week,” Winston said in an interview published January 22. “But HITS just totally made that up. And now I’m getting asked about it as if it’s real, when it was made up in your office.”
Winston didn’t shy away from the irony of addressing the rumor with the same outlet that sparked it. “That really is a full-circle rumor,” he added, making it clear that Swift’s name was never part of the show’s plans.
The clarification also makes sense from an eligibility standpoint. Swift did not release any music during the 2026 Grammy eligibility window, meaning she isn’t nominated this year — and her absence from the performance lineup now appears official.
