Notably, DJ Apollo’s dedication to music led him to join the school band, where he participated from sixth grade through college, even performing in high school marching bands and various ensembles. His talent was so exceptional that he earned a scholarship to South Carolina State, not only for his skills as a drummer but also for his contributions to the marching band.

While DJ Apollo didn’t come from a musical family, he found inspiration in an older cousin who was a DJ, DJ Double A. His cousin DJ Double A taught him what he knows about being a DJ. His influence combined with his shared interest in drumming, paved the way for Apollo’s musical pursuits.

In 2007, DJ Apollo teamed up with some of his college buddies who shared his passion for music. Together, they formed a music collective and started creating beats. Their collaboration quickly gained recognition on campus, and they began performing at shows and events. In a significant milestone, they organized their own concert in partnership with the music department, an event that has now become a cherished tradition and even a part of the final exams for music students at the school.
